I took over ownership of Bright Stars Preschool in April, 2014 and haven’t been happier! I have an educational background in Nursing from the University of British Columbia – Okanagan. I am married and am a mother to two wonderful children, ages 3 and 5.
The relationships that I am able to build with children and parents are incredible and bring a strong sense of community to the Preschool. It brings me pure joy to be able to participate in a child’s first learning experience and watch their growth and creativity unravel throughout the course of the school year.
I am thrilled to be a part of the Bright Stars Preschool Team! Working with preschool age children is truly rewarding. I have always known that I wanted to be a teacher of young children. I so enjoy the way their eyes light up when they learn something new and the enthusiasm that they have for life and discovering new things.
This is my 5th year teaching at Bright Stars and I love it! Before teaching preschool I spent 11 years teaching for the Calgary Board of Education, mainly in a Kindergarten classroom. I also have 2 amazing children, ages 9 and 13. I am so excited to be back at Bright Stars this year! I am looking forward to getting to know you and your children. I truly feel that the parents and students at Bright Stars are an extension of my own family. It is a pleasure to be part of your child’s first educational experience.
What a thrill for me to work with the amazing team of teachers at Bright Stars Preschool and get to know the all of the children enrolled. My passion for teaching and love of working with young children grows as I spend each day with the children learning, laughing and playing. It is rewarding for me to watch these young people develop and grow through providing exciting learning opportunities and fun socialization times.
I am married to a wonderful man, Brian, and have three children - ages 16, 14 and 10. I received my Bachelor of Education in Calgary, and have taught special education, as well as early elementary grades for the CBE for 7 years. I have had the pleasure of working with the Bright Stars staff since 2011 and love my job here! I enjoy sports, camping, music and above all, spending time with my family and loved ones! I am honoured to be a part of your children’s beginning school experiences.
I am very excited to start teaching at Bright Stars Preschool! I grew up in North Vancouver but moved to Calgary in 2000 to complete my Bachelor of Education degree at the University of Calgary. Over a 9 year period with the CBE, I taught a mixture of full time kindergarten, grade 1 and 2. I truly believe that an enriched preschool experience helps children develop the confidence and skills that will assist with a smooth transition into kindergarten. My husband and I have been thrilled with the incredible progress our own two boys have made because of their experiences at Bright Stars. I couldn't feel more honoured to now be a part of this wonderful community of students, parents andteachers. I can't wait to meet you and your children!
I am filled with joy to be a part of the Bright Stars family! I have always loved learning and would play teacher with my younger sister growing up. Born and raised in Calgary, I received my BEd at U of C (French major and ESL minor). Through the years, I have taught in many capacities: from leading fitness classes to teaching high school english as a second language, from teaching dancing for birth classes to tutoring preschool french immersion, discovering my passion for preschool education since 2013. Fortunate to experience different preschools in Calgary, including Bright Stars in Copperfield 2014/2015, I am thrilled to return to the new Mahogany location.
When not teaching, my husband Alexis and our four boys (now young men!): Xavier 17, Zennen 14, Taléo 12, and Azaro 9, adventure together on beautiful nature hikes, playing board games, listening to spanish music and watching French movies. I am also passionate about dancing, learning to play the harp, reading, and meditating.
In the class, I love co-creating fun, positive and nurturing learning experiences with each child and building relationships with their families. I feel inspired by each one and look forward to welcoming all of you this coming year!
I am a mother, wife, teacher and volunteer. My teaching life began when I earned a Bachelor of Education from the University of Manitoba, with a specialty in English and History. Subsequent to earning my Bachelor’s degree, I earned a Post Baccalaureate Certificate (equivalent to a pre-Master’ degree) in Education with a focus on Resource Education and English as a Second Language (ESL). My teaching experience is wide-ranging. I have taught and/or worked with preschool age children through to adults. I’ve been a classroom teacher, I have been a resource teacher, I have managed and run structured before and after school programs, and I spearheaded a high school literacy program for illiterate refugees. My experiences have been vast, but mostly they have been rewarding! I don’t teach because I have to, I teach because I want to. I am a hopeless optimist and I know that my interactions with children have the capacity to bring good and everlasting benefit – to them and to me!
When not teaching, I am kept busy by my three children, Spencer, 15, Kendall, 13, and Rowan, 6, running them to afterschool sports (hockey, ringette, lacrosse and soccer – depending on the season!). Additionally, I am a dedicated volunteer to a number of initiatives that are dear to my heart.
Life is good and full; and I am incredibly humbled to be given this chance to get to know you and to teach your children over the coming school year. I have no doubt it will be incredible!
This is my second year teaching at Bright Stars Preschool and I am very excited to be teaching your children and being a part of their lives. I have wanted to be a Teacher since I was 7 years old and have been working and volunteering with little ones for most of my life. The best part of working with little ones for me has to be seeing their eyes light up when they learn something new and/or learn to do something on their own, the ‘I can do it” moment.
I have my Bachelor of Education from the University of Windsor in Ontario. I moved to Calgary from Ontario 3 years ago and am enjoying my time here. I have worked as a Lead Daycare Teacher and as a Lead Preschool Teacher. During my placement in Teachers College I have worked with a variety of grades including Kindergarten and Grade 1. I value the importance of education and being a Preschool teacher enables me to excite children about learning at the beginning stages of their educational path. I am thrilled to build a relationship with you and your children and be a part of their Preschool experience
